Business Support Officer

Temporary Administrative Support Officer role with a State Government Department– great hourly rate and immediate start.

The Opportunity

A State Government Department is seeking a professional and highly organised Administrative Support Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. This role provides high-level administrative and customer service support to the department, contributing to the effective delivery of services in line with operational plans and objectives.

You will work both collaboratively within a team and autonomously, often managing competing priorities within tight timeframes. The role may also require you to provide support across multiple organisational business areas as operationally required, making this an excellent opportunity for a proactive administration professional who thrives in a dynamic environment.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:
• Providing efficient, high-quality customer service
• Coordinating travel bookings, including flights, accommodation, charters, ferries, and car hire within required timeframes
• Monitoring and managing internal and external correspondence to ensure timely responses
• Managing incoming and outgoing telephone calls in a professional manner
• Working within a KPI-driven environment with performance monitoring mechanisms
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with industry partners, local suppliers, and internal and external stakeholders
• Preparing, compiling, and maintaining accurate documentation, reports, and records
• Updating information systems, including Ellipse and Microsoft Office applications
• Demonstrating initiative by handling enquiries to senior staff in their absence within expected timeframes
• Developing, maintaining, and improving procedures, manuals, and registers
• Undertaking general administrative duties as required
• Demonstrating professionalism and positively contributing to team culture and customer satisfaction

About You

You are a customer-focused and detail-oriented administration professional who takes pride in accuracy, service delivery, and collaboration.

You will bring:
• Demonstrated strong customer service skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Ability to manage competing priorities within tight deadlines
• High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Initiative and confidence in supporting senior staff when required
• A collaborative mindset aligned with the Queensland Government Leadership Competencies Framework (Individual Contributor stream)
